What is the T3 Advisor Conference?

T3 stands for Technology Tools for Today and is the leading practice management and technology conference for independent and hybrid financial advisors. It’s basically a hub of all the latest and greatest technology solutions for financial advisory firms, making practices run more efficiently and profitably.

It’s a great place for Financial Planning students to gain exposure to many different advisory firms. Computer Science students can see just how robust the FinTech industry is. In fact, there’s even a job board where students can upload their resumes and review postings from firm’s that are currently hiring.

What is the T3 Mashup?

In short, a strategic collaboration of Personal Financial Planning and Computer Science students who are paired with a FinTech firm and charged with developing software that will enhance the client experience. This can be a product for the individual investor or something that advisory practices can implement within their firm. Check out J.D. How it works

A team of 2 Financial Planning students and 2 Computer Science students (at least one of each, max two of each) are paired with a participating tech firm and compete to develop a new technology (or expand on existing) that provides a solution to any financial planning problem or issue that our industry faces today.

The sponsoring firm will provide funding for travel and accommodations for the students.

A maximum of 10 finalists present their projects at the 2020 T3 Advisor Conference in San Diego in February. If more than 10 teams want to participate, we will have an initial selection process in mid-January, but all students will still be invited to the conference. The length and format of the presentations will be determined in the fall of 2019.

We realize there are still a few things yet to be determined but consider the many benefits this competition brings for your students and let us know if you would like to participate. Once we can gauge commitment of schools and tech firms, we’ll begin arranging teams and iron out those last few details.
